Our team has been actively driving the transfer of innovative research outputs through three pillars
Train
We led the delivery of six training sessions as part of the “Awareness and Training” programme by la Caixa Research Institute’s Innovation Hub. We also published 12 innovation training capsules on the intranet to equip researchers and managers with key innovation concepts.
Grow
We currently manage 35 innovation projects, including six new ones, such as the assessment of new molecules with antimicrobial resistance properties, a severe malaria prognosis and a diagnostic to enhance reproductive outcomes. Over the past year, we submitted 12 new patents and registered 5 new software tools, including an early warning system to prevent deaths caused by extreme temperatures. We secured funding for 12 innovation proposals and we now have 12 active industrial partnerships.
Impact
Our exploitation efforts resulted in six active licenses and agreements, including three new out-license agreements this year with the companies LICONSA (a treatment for intestinal worms), BitaGreen (health impact assessment software) and Made of Genes (injury prevention software for personalised healthcare). We also entered a new spin-off partnership with Made of Genes through a license-for-equity agreement and conducted two spin-off assessments with out-licensing potential: a surveillance platform for international travellers and a point of care diagnostic for fever severity.
