Our initiative’s strong focus on education, research dissemination, and multi-sector collaboration has yielded significant results in 2024.
Outreach
We expanded our educational outreach to diverse audiences with varying levels of expertise. Our workshops engaged 331 school students, 98 university students and 133 members of the general public. Additionally, we reached 362 participants in citizen science events, 280 in ISGlobal’s Summer School, and 400 attendees at conferences and congresses.
For World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW2024), we launched a large-scale awareness campaign, replicated by partners in six European countries. Our advertisements in the Barcelona metro and tram reached over 3.5 million people. Social media campaigns- featuring videos, infographics, and reels – helped amplify our messages, generating 400,000 views and nearly 4,000 interactions.
Cooperation and Networking
We strengthened collaboration with primary care partners across Catalonia, Spain, the EU, and North Africa, allowing us to broaden the scope of our activities. Our network now includes 447 active members from diverse sectors, including healthcare professionals, patient organisations, local authorities, game developers, researchers, policymakers, and artists.
In total, we directly reached 3170 citizens in Catalonia (Lleida, Girona and Barcelona) and Morocco (Rabat and Casablanca) in 2023, in addition to those reached through social media.
Sustainability
We secured funding to ensure the continuation and replication of key projects, including SAFE, with continued support by the University of Barcelona and plans for replication in Morocco; ENDÈMIC, through partnerships with pharmacy colleges in Catalonia; and AMR EDUCare, with training modules focused on patient empowerment and communication for healthcare staff. The course, accredited by the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, was presented internationally in September and will be released in 2025. Finally, the RAMBLA project, which kicked off in 2024, will help us expand AMR initiatives in Barcelona.
